STRENGTHEN YOUR CORE WHILE YOU SIT!!
Finding the time to get your core work in during the holiday and travel season can be daunting!
Try these 3 exercises in your chair, airplane seat, or lounge chair.
Done the proper way not only will you be strengthening your core, but lengthening and strengthening your upper back muscles which we know are of utmost importance to not looking like cavemen!
Sit up tall in your chair with knees bent and feet on the floor.
Place hands under the seat wrapping fingertips under seat
Retract shoulders pulling them down away from ears while applying pressure under the seat with fingertips if you cannot grasp under the seat then press hands down on edges of seat making sure to keep shoulders retracted.
Squeeze inner thighs together you can even use a pillow to squeeze and activate adductors
Pull navel to spine N2S
Lift knees up towards chest then lower down to touch toes on the ground (don’t rest) loft knees back up to chest
Inhale when toes touch ground
Exhale when knees come to chest
Perform same actions bringing knees to right side
Perform same action bringing knees to left side
After this series of 3 exercises you will have worked:
- Upper back
- Inner thighs
