We break the Kidlates method into three ABCs of exercises and release two videos per category each quarter:
- Awake: For when you wish you could press a reset button in your child, this is your go-to exercise
- Build: Exercises for on the mat that build up your child’s strength
- Calm: Exercises that use your child’s whole body as a weight, like wheelbarrow or crab walking.
Our program is designed for you to implement along with your child. We recommend you watch and join the short videos together with your child so that you can practice the exercises together.
We recommend waiting to start Kidlates once your child is at least three or four years old so that they have a baseline level of trunk stabilization and can follow the instructions.
We created Kidlates moves in bite-size lessons for children, including children with developmental delays, because we know all children and adults can benefit from the exercises and stability strengthening moves.
So many children with and without special needs have a weak core. Just go into a classroom and look for the child who constantly changes positions in his seat, or the child who lays on her desk while writing, or the child who sits in a ‘W’ position or with his feet up on his chair. This program shows promise for children of all ages and with a variety of different needs.
